Plan ahead to skip a week of winter and book a nonstop flight from Chicago to Los Angeles for $113 roundtrip on American. Travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, from January through early March. For example, I found flights departing Chicago ORD on Saturday, January 25, returning from Los Angeles LAX on Tuesday, January 28. United is selling tickets for the same price and may have a few more travel dates available, but keep in mind that United's Basic Economy is more restrictive and only includes a small personal item. A carry-on bag plus a personal item is included on American.

San Jose - Pittsburgh $136 Roundtrip for Late Summer/Fall Travel

We're seeing some incredible deals on cross-country flights between California and the Eastern U.S. Fly from San Jose to Pittsburgh for $136 roundtrip on American or United. You'll find this amazing price for travel dates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, from late August through November. I found flights departing San Jose SJC on Tuesday, September 10, returning from Pittsburgh PIT on Saturday, September 14. Same as the above fare, book with American if you want to bring a carry-on bag for this price. United only allows a small personal item onboard.

San Diego - Miami $217 Roundtrip for Year-Round Travel

If you're tired of the frigid waters of the Pacific, fly nonstop from San Diego to Miami for $217 roundtrip on American and enjoy the warmer waters of the Atlantic at South Beach. Travel on scattered dates from late August through April, excluding November and December. I found flights for this price departing San Diego SAN on Tuesday, August 20, returning from Miami MIA on Tuesday, August 27.

Newark - Paris $268 Roundtrip for Fall/Winter Travel

Fly to Europe for less than a trip to the Caribbean. Nonstop flights from Newark to Paris are only $268 roundtrip on United. Travel between late October and March. For this price, you must travel to Europe on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, and return from Europe on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. You'll also need to stay a minimum of 7-nights to find this price. For example, I found flights departing Newark EWR on Tuesday, October 22, returning from Paris CDG on Thursday, October 31.

This price is for Basic Economy, which only includes carry-on luggage. The first checked bag is $60 each way. If you need to check a bag, it's best to pay $388 for a standard Economy fare, which includes a checked bag and advanced seat assignments along with the ability to make ticket changes (fee applies).

Los Angeles - St. Croix $287 Roundtrip for Late Summer/Fall Travel

Flying from LA to the Caribbean is usually very expensive compared to flights from the East Coast. If you don't mind forgoing some frills, Spirit Airlines offers affordable flights between the West Coast and the Caribbean with its weekly promo code sales. This weekend, Spirit is offering 50% off flights for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through November 20, and Monday through Thursday, and Saturday travel between September 4 - October 2.

This route is technically listed as excluded from this promo code sale, but if you search directly from the sale page at spirit.com/en/traveldeal-20190719-pct and enter promo code 50PCT the discount will work for any route within those travel dates. Using the promo code, flights from Los Angeles to St. Croix are $287 roundtrip on select dates. This route is flown on a limited basis so it will be easiest to find this price in late August and September when more travel dates are available.

I found this price departing Los Angeles LAX on Thursday, September 12, returning from St. Croix STX on Monday, September 16. This price only includes a small personal item. Checked bag fees start at $30 each way and larger carry-on bag fees start at $35 each way. And if you try to use the promo code from the home page, you will get an error message so make sure to search directly from the sale page.
